Crime Prevention Workshop

Residents, parents and community leaders continue the fight to revitalize the east Moss Point area.
Moss Point police held a crime prevention and awareness workshop this evening at Kreole Primary School on Martin Luther King Boulevard. The workshop is designed to be an introduction to a series of learning opportunities for residents to keep their family members and property safe.
The area is looking to soon build a new community center. Director of Community Development Cathy Keeton said, “Part of that community center is having what we call a Wi-Fi community. That way, those people who cannot afford to have Wi-Fi in their homes will be able to pick up hopefully signals from the community center. It’ll also help them be an aid in helping them also get through to the police department a little bit quicker.”
Tonight’s meeting was one of a four-meeting crime prevention series. Moss Point police touched on the importance of monitoring students’ online activity throughout the summer.
The next meeting is scheduled for June 28th.
