Crawfish and Beauty Queens
It’s Coast history in the making. The very first queen of the Crawfish Music Festival has been crowned.
Contestants from all over the Coast competed tonight for the crown in the Miss Crawfish Music Festival Scholarship Pageant. The event was at the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, where the Crawfish Music Festival will be held all weekend. News 25’s very own Toni Miles and Bryan Kennedy emceed the event.
The judges tell News 25 the Crawfish Music Festival Queen is a girl with poise, grace, beauty and personality. Judge Brenda Blount said, “It takes a lot of confidence to get on stage. It takes a great deal of confidence to speak and exude confidence. I think it empowers women.”
The pageant winner, Kaitlyn Orth, receives several prizes including a $1,000 scholarship. Coordinators for the event say they plan to make the pageant an annual event.
