Crash causing power outage in Biloxi

A suspected drunk driver struck a power pole this afternoon in Biloxi, causing a power outage to at least 130 Mississippi Power customers.
According to Biloxi police, around 4:10 this afternoon, they responded to an accident on Beauvoir and Pass Road. When officers arrived on scene, they found a vehicle had struck a power pole on Nelson Road, causing it to split in half and in the process hit other vehicles as well.
Officials say when they approached the car the driver was completely incoherent and was taken into custody. Biloxi DUI Officer Jason Cummings said, “Vehicles were scattered all around in the intersection and stuff like that. There were a total of six vehicles that we know of right now that was involved. No one was injured in the time of the report of this accident so no one went to the hospital or anything like that.”
Shortly after the wreck, Mississippi Power was on scene waiting to replace the power pole with a new one. Residents in the area were out of power for about five to six hours.
