Crab Festival kicks off in Bay St. Louis

A Bay St. Louis tradition kicked off today to start the Fourth of July weekend.

The 35th annual Crab Festival is put on each year by Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Festival-goers have the opportunity to enjoy countless vendors, carnival rides, music, and boiled crabs and seafood during the three-day event.

Crab Fest is also the only big church fundraiser each year. Crab Festival Co-chair Leigh Haas said, “It’s just a great event for family and friends. We come out here and work for three days straight. It’s great for the parishioners and non-parishioners work and it’s the only church fundraiser so it’s a great time for everybody.”

The festival ends at 11 p.m. on Saturday night.
