COVID-19 vaccination event hosted at Gulfport High School

Gulfport High School hosted its own vaccination event Saturday at the Bert Jenkins Gym.

Team Memorial came to this location earlier this summer to give out COVID vaccines and the recipients on Saturday were originally supposed to come only for their second vaccine dose. However, with the recent surge in COVID cases, the team decided to offer the vaccines for both first and second dose recipients.

Most participants that came to the event were there for their first dose.

Memorial gave out over 90 vaccines with many of them being Gulfport School District students. Gulfport School District employee Patrice Lombard said, “The reason we have so many kids coming is because they realize that it is affecting them more. I think that last year they felt like it was just for us old people that it was affecting, now they are realizing that it is affecting them.”
