COVID-19 outbreak at Stone County Jail
The Stone County Jail has had an outbreak of COVID-19 cases, but they are doing everything they can to ensure safety of all faculty and inmates.
The correctional facility is now dealing with the spread of these cases by enforcing extreme sanitization in all areas.
Assistant Chief of Security Noelle Reynolds confirmed with WXXV that several corrections officers, an administrative assistant, the jail’s chief of security and two inmates tested positive for the virus.
Reynolds said that daily temperature checks, fog sanitization, social distancing, and masks are required in the facility.
The two inmates are in single cells and their symptoms are not severe.
The sheriff’s office has contracted with private company Vindicator Officers Solutions to help the remaining staff while the others are sick.
