Council Briefing On Ongoing Legal Issues

The Biloxi city council will go into a rare executive session, closed to the public, during its meeting this evening.
Discussions revolve around the ongoing legal issues with the Golden Nugget Casino rent money.
City attorney peter abide (ay-bide) has placed a measure on the agenda seeking the closed session to brief council members on the pending litigation with the state involving rent funds the state owes the city, and potential issues with CSX railway.
The city council members are expected to be briefed during this executive session.

“600,000 dollars in rent money that was paid by the golden nugget into a state holding fund…when the state legislature a couple of years ago swept up all this money they swept up our money too, so what we’re doing is we’re going to court trying to get that money back.”
– Vincent Creel City Of Biloxi Public Affairs

If any votes are taken in executive session they must be reported when the council returns from executive session.
We will have a reporter at tonight’s meeting and keep you updated on this story.
