Corks and Cleavers Feed First Responders
Yesterday in Gulfport, the popular farm to table restaurant Corks and Cleaver served those who don’t always have a chance to enjoy a day off on Thanksgiving.
The restaurant opened its doors and its kitchen to serve all of Gulfport’s police officers, firemen, and first responders. The restaurant hopes that doing this will let those workers know that the city appreciates everything they do, every day, all year round. Corks and Cleavers Co-owner David Dickensauge said, “I grew up here in Gulfport and moved away, came back. I always like to give back to the city that’s given to me. I’ve been very well supported since I’ve been back home, by the police department, the mayor, the fire department. I just think those guys do service and if we can’t service them why would they want to serve us. That’s a very hard job.”
Corks and Cleavers also provided meals to homeless visitors from the nearby Feed my Sheep mission.
