Construction Continues on Marine Education Center

Construction continues on the new Marine Education Center. Construction workers are out clearing for the new center.
The new center will be a great improvement after Hurricane Katrina forced marine center employees to work out of trailers.
The public will be able to enjoy nature trails and learn more about science and research through the University of Southern Mississippi. The projected opening date is early spring 2017.
Marine Education Center Director Chris Snyder said, “One of the things we did that is unique about this project is trying to preserve as many of the trees in the natural site as we could. And so, right now, they are going through a process of marking trees that will be removed and clearing them for the buildings.”
Admission to the center will be free to the public.
