Construction and Clean-Up Taking Place on HWY 90 In Biloxi

If you were driving down Highway 90 in Biloxi today, it probably took a little longer to get to your destination. That’s because of a Beau Rivage construction project and Mayor FoFo Gilich’s clean up Biloxi initiative, both of which are going on at the same time.
News 25’s Laurene Callander tells us how long it will last.
Leaf blowers, shovels, and sweepers are not normally part of your morning commute, but they were out in full force today, taking over the medians on HWY 90 in Biloxi. These efforts are part of Mayor Gilich’s initiative to make Biloxi cleaner. And while the roads were a little more crowded than normal, drivers say they understood. William Layton said, “There will be a few naysayers but it’s also good that the city is being cleaned up and getting better.”
Crews began this morning in east Biloxi and plan on moving westward over the next several days.
Construction is also coming along outside of MGM Park in preparation of the Beau Rivage employee parking garage entrance. The road work will cause sporadic lane closures between Caillavet Street and I-110 near the Beau garage. The city of Biloxi posted on their Facebook page that the construction outside of MGM Park is expected to last up to three weeks.
While reaction from drivers today was mostly positive, Biloxi and Beau Rivage officials realize it’s just day one and they are crossing their fingers for a smooth road ahead for these two projects that will create a better Biloxi.
Once again, the clean-up is expected to last several days and the Beau Rivage construction will be in Biloxi for three weeks.
