Connie Moran’s last city council meeting as mayor of Ocean Springs
Ocean Springs residents and officials gathered for a City Council meeting this evening, which would also be Connie Moran’s last meeting as mayor.
Moran was elected mayor of her hometown in June 2005 and has served three terms. She tells News 25 it was a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to help take the city from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina through all of the rebuilding and new public spaces and buildings.
As her time as mayor comes to an end, Moran says she’ll still be around and fully involved in the community. “I love this community so much. It’s going to be really hard for me not to say ‘hey, there’s a light out at such and such and such and such.’ I was a detailed person. I love the people. The city, of course, has one accolade after accolade, award after award. I’m going to miss being a part of that, but I certainly intend to be engaged in certain programs and activities. I’m not going away.”
Mayor-Elect Shea Dobson will become the new mayor of Ocean Springs on June 30th.
