Connect with Coffee

Share a cup of Joe with the men and women who protect your community.
Dozens of Long Beach residents began their morning that way at Coast Roast Coffee with officers from the Long Beach Police Department.
While ‘Connect with Coffee’ was timely with the current tensions between law enforcement officials and community members across the country, the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce actually planned this event about two months ago.
It would be a way for the chamber to thank the officers for not only what they do for them, but also the community. Twenty-five officers stopped in for coffee along with a city alderman and even the mayor. Mayor Billy Skellie said, “I think it’s a great opportunity for the citizens and police in an informal type setting to be able to visit and hopefully the citizens can see the challenges the police officers have every day and also the police officers can see some of the concerns the citizens have.”
A chamber representative tells News 25 they are thinking about doing the event again, next time thanking local firefighters.
