Congressman Palazzo weighs in on shutdown
What does the recent government shutdown mean for members of the military in South Mississippi and their families?
News 25 spoke to U.S. Congressman Steven Palazzo in Washington today to learn more. “The people that actually trained this weekend, it was a drill weekend, had to go home. It definitely effects their training, but what it could have done while we are expecting them to focus on their missions all over the globe and many of them are in very dangerous places, instead of them focusing on their own survival and success of the mission, they would be focusing on whether or not their children have heating and gas for the car and groceries.”
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer did announce on the Senate floor today he and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have reached an agreement to end the shutdown and reopen the government for the federal workplace to get back to work tomorrow.
