Conerly Trophy nominees announced

The last week of the college football season is now upon us which means there is a large enough sample size to crown the state’s best player.

Today, the ten nominees for the 2019 C-Spire Conerly were announced by the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame, headlined by representatives from the Big 3 schools. In alphabetical order it’s junior Quarterback Jack Abraham from Southern Miss, junior Running Back Kylin Hill from Mississippi State, and freshman Quarterback John Rhys Plumlee from Ole Miss.

Abraham has started all 11 games for the Golden Eagles this season and ranks top 15 in the nation in both passing yards and completion percentage.

Meanwhile, Hill leads the Southeastern Conference in both rushing yards and yards per game to go along with 11 total touchdowns.

Then there’s the freshman sensation Plumlee who has burst onto the scene with nearly 1,000 yards rushing through just eight games, setting the Ole Miss freshman rushing record in the process.

This year’s winner will be announced on Tuesday, December 3rd.
