Conerly Trophy nominees announced today

Dating back to 1996, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum has awarded the Conerly Trophy to the best college football player in Mississippi. Today, they announced ten nominees for this year’s class.
Headlining the bunch are Mississippi State Quarterback Nick Fitzgerald, Ole Miss Wide Receiver AJ Brown, and Southern Miss Running back Ito Smith.
Fitzgerald has been doing it both through the air and on the ground, accounting for 29 total touchdowns and rushing for over one thousand yards.
Brown has gone over one thousand yards as well, hauling in 65 passes and ten touchdowns in the process with an average of more than 15 yards per reception.
Then there’s Smith, who’s averaging more than one hundred yards rushing per game with 14 total touchdowns through 11 games.
Other names announced include De’Lance Turner from Alcorn State, Hunter McEachern from Belhaven, Chris Robinson from Delta State, Shawn Bishop from Jackson State, Jacob Kendall from Millsaps, Chris Manning from Mississippi College, and Mark Pegues with Mississippi Valley State.
