Company Sues Mississippi Power over Kemper Power Plant
A company is suing Mississippi Power, alleging the utility misled it into building a one million dollar pipeline.
Treetop Midstream Services had planned to buy carbon dioxide from the Kemper County Plant, pumping it underground to push oil up from an affiliate’s oil field.
The lawsuit alleges Mississippi Power cancelled its contract to buy carbon dioxide, leaving Treetop with “a pipeline to nowhere.”
A Mississippi Power spokesperson says the company believes the lawsuit is without merit.
Construction on the $6.7 billion plant has been delayed several times as the cost to build it has steadily increased.
