Community wide parent meeting in Gulfport

Tonight, the Gulfport Concerned Citizens Coalition will hold a parents meeting at the Isiah Frederick Community Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
The event is open to the public and parents and their children are encouraged to attend. Concerned Citizens Coalition Chairman Richard Marsh tells News 25 that the goal is to bring old fashion values back to the community by teaching children right from wrong at an early age. “We’re getting back to our grassroots of being brought up right and at the same time, the parent needs to be on top of the children. They need to know what’s coming in and out of their homes. They need to know what the children are doing within the community and they need to take their children to church and teach them the right, responsible ways. I hate to say it, and not all, but some, we’re not teaching our children.”
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. The panel includes parents from small and large families, divorced parents, and grandparents raising young children.
