Community helps donate prom dresses to Gautier High School

The Gautier community has stepped up to help donate prom dresses for Gautier High School.

What started out as a Facebook post from Monica Mingo, the owner of That Gumbo Life, asking for other businesses to help get dresses for prom turned into a successful contribution, collecting over 200 dresses and also $7,000 worth of casual clothes for spring break from Black Door Boutique.

The dresses, different lengths, colors, and sizes small through 3X, are hanging on racks in the school’s library along with shoes for juniors and seniors who need a dress. All clothes are free. Black Door Boutique owner Isabel Graywetterling said, “I went to Gautier High School. My son goes here.. It’s just important that everybody feels beautiful and special at prom.”

Mingo said, “It’s important to me because this is where I live, this is my community. I want to make sure that everybody in our community knows that no matter what you’re going through, you can find someone to help you with that.”

Gautier’s prom has always been celebrated in Pascagoula, but this year prom will be celebrated in Gautier!
