Cold weather shelters opening tonight through the weekend

Cold weather shelters are opening in Hancock and Harrison counties this weekend in anticipation of cold-weather conditions.

Hancock County is opening its cold weather shelter in the Kiln tonight and it will be open through Monday.

  • Kiln – Hancock County Storm Prep Building, 6 pm to 8 am.
    • 18335 Highway 603, Kiln

Anyone who needs a ride should contact Hancock County dispatch at 228-255-9191.

Harrison County has two cold-weather shelters that will open on Friday through Sunday.

  • D’Iberville – Kenny Fournier Multipurpose Center will open at 5 pm.
    • 10395 Automall Parkway, D’Iberville
  • Gulfport – St Peters By-the-Sea Episcopal Church will open at 5 pm.
    • 1909 15th Street, Gulfport

Both shelters are expected to remain open Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night.

Coast Transit Authority will provide transportation to the D’Iberville shelter. For information on transportation, contact CTA at (228) 896-8080.
