Cold weather shelters opening Friday night

With temperatures dropping again this weekend, two cold-weather shelters in Harrison County and another in Hancock County will be open starting Friday night.

In Harrison County, the Kenny Fournier Multipurpose Center in D’Iberville will open at 5 p.m.

The shelter is at 10395 Automall Parkway.

Coast Transit Authority (CTA) will provide transportation to the D’Iberville shelter. For information on transportation, contact CTA at (228) 896-8080.

Also, The Salvation Army will open its cold weather shelter at St. Peter’s By-the-Sea Episcopal Church. The shelter opens at 5 p.m.

The shelter is at 1909 15th Street in Gulfport.

The Hancock County Emergency Management Agency, along with the Hancock Board of Supervisors, will open a cold weather shelter tonight.

The shelter will be open from 6 tonight to 8 a.m. tomorrow. The location will be the storm prep building on Highway 603 in the Kiln.

Rides to the shelter can be requested by contacting Hancock County Dispatch at 228-255-9191.
