Coffee with a Cop
This morning, for the first time this year, residents in Jackson County had a chance to meet some of the faces behind the blue line.
A handful of Jackson County deputies came together at the Flooring Mart Home Design Center for Coffee with a Cop. Residents had a chance to ask any questions, voice any concerns they might have, or just enjoy a doughnut with the officers.
Sheriff Mike Ezell was on hand, as well as Jackson County Youth Court Judge Sharon Sigalas, to mingle with the community. Sheriff Ezell said, “We are accessible to the public and also it just puts a friendly face with a name and it is just a real comforting thing to a lot of people that they can come out and talk to a sheriff or some of their deputies.”
Judge Sigalas said, “It is always nice for people to know that I am a real person and I don’t wear that black robe all the time and that I do care about our community and let them know that the judge is a real person, somebody who does care about this community and the children and families of this community.”
Ezell tells News 25 he believes the event today was a success and he hopes Coffee with a Cop helps the community feel more comfortable with public safety.
