Coastal Family Health’s Vancleave clinic open for COVID vaccines

Coastal Family Health Center’s Vancleave clinic was open for its first day administering the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Moderna vaccine was administered to everyone 75 years old or older and healthcare workers. Patients are asked to call in advance for an appointment just to ensure their vaccine is at the right temperature to be distributed.

Upon arrival, there’s an option of either drive-thru or in-person vaccinations. Like many other vaccination processes, patients are asked to wait at least 15 minutes after being vaccinated to check for any immediate symptoms. Practice Manager and Registered Nurse Dena Trusler said, “Even if you’re not a patient of ours just go ahead and call anyway. It’s a simple form and we can get you registered. Come on down and get that vaccine. It’s not very long. We do have a questionnaire to ask. We administer the vaccine and then we will hold the patient for 15 to 30 minutes after just to make sure there’s no reaction.”

The clinic says they have more than enough vaccines for both the first and the second dose and will be open at the same location on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Anyone interested call 228-826-4711 in advanced for an appointment.
