Climb CDC hosting community cleanup Saturday

South Mississippi continues to put on cleanup efforts to restore the community after the effects of Hurricane Zeta.

Climb CDC is a prime example as they’re hosting a community united cleanup event tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The organization is asking anyone who can help to meet up at the family enrichment center in Gulfport to help pick up debris.

Food and drinks will be provided for those who volunteer their time.

Climb CDC’s Director of Program Jake Cook tells New 25 this is a fantastic opportunity for people to come together and it’s one step closer for things to feel normal again in Gulfport. “We’re a small organization. We have a lot of responsibility in our neighborhood. We have a lot of beneficiaries in our neighborhood. So, the quicker we can get our area cleaned up and prepared and safe for the public, the quicker we can serve those beneficiaries.

Cook doesn’t want the 9 to 5 estimated time frame to discourage volunteers. He doesn’t believe the cleanup will be an all day event.
