City Looking to Extend Popps Ferry

Big changes could be coming to Popps Ferry Road but first the City of Biloxi wants your feedback.
Currently Popps Ferry Road stops at Pass Road but city officials propose to extend it to Highway 90 and then exit between Pine Grove Avenue and Waffle House.
The city is inviting residents to come out and provide feedback as city leaders discuss what the new extension could mean for traffic in the area. The meeting will take place on March 22nd at 5:30 at the Donal Snyder Community Center. City of Biloxi Public Affairs Manager Vincent Creel said, “What this is designed to do is get rid of the bottleneck that we’re seeing at Beauvoir and Pass and at Popps Ferry and Pass. What you’re dealing with there is people having to make left-hand turns. Left-hand turns are always bad in moving traffic because you have to cut across traffic. This would be a straight shot from Popps Ferry due south to Highway 90.”
At the forum, city officials will address roadway design, right of way acquisition and environmental issues.
