Cindy Hyde-Smith sworn in today
Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith made history today when she was sworn into the Senate as the first woman to represent Mississippi in the chamber.
It’s a milestone that strategists hope will propel the former agriculture commissioner and early President Donald Trump supporter when she faces a tough election in the fall.
Vice President Mike Pence administered the Oath of Office to Cindy Hyde-Smith today. Hyde-Smith replaces the ailing Thad Cochran who retired April 1st at the age of 80.
Governor Phil Bryant appointed Hyde-Smith to fill the seat. A special election is set for November.
