Christmas in Silver Ridge Park

An old park gets a face lift in Gulfport today.
The fourth grade Quest students at Bayou View Elementary wanted to make a difference in their community and decided to begin raising funds to completely renovate Silver Ridge Park. They discussed ideas to fundraise and jumpstart the project, but little did they know, the Civic Club and Gulfport City Councilman Ricky Dombrowski were way ahead of them. The city allocated over $40,000 to clean out excess trees and build a new playground.
Today, the kids and the community celebrated the new park by visiting Santa and handing out gifts. “You can see there’s kids everywhere and they’re loving it and this is what it’s about. Keeping them out of the streets, give them something to do instead of getting into trouble. This is a place to play and have fun and we’re glad to make that happen,” said Dombrowski.
Dombrowski tells News 25 the city plans to also build a pavilion and a basketball court inside Silver Ridge Park.
