Christmas on the Water Children’s Parade returns to Biloxi

Plenty of festivities going on this weekend across the Coast to kick off the holiday season, starting tonight with the annual Christmas on the Water Children’s Parade.

After having to cancel the beloved holiday staple last year due to COVID, the children’s parade was back and better than ever.

The parade featured the Biloxi Marching Band, hay wagons, a festive performance from Kelli’s Steps School of Dance, and Old St. Nick himself.

After the parade finished, crowds gathered down on the town green where Biloxi Mayor FoFo Gilich flipped the switch, lighting the park for the season.

Whether in the parade or watching it, the whole night garnered plenty of Christmas spirit amongst the community. Biloxi Parks and Recreation Volunteer Shirely Lovelace said, “This is the first year I’ve seen this many people at the Christmas parade. Howard Avenue was really full– full in some areas.”

Nine-year-old parade spectator Jayce Wood said, “My favorite part of the parade was when they came in and threw all the beads and the candy and the balls. My favorite part about Christmas is getting together with the family and having a good time.”

The celebrations continued down at the District on Howard for First Friday where there was live music, food, and lots of Christmas vendors.
