Christmas on the Bayou hitting the water December 10th

A decorated fleet of boats will take the water this weekend.

On Saturday, December 10th, more than 50 boaters will show off their holiday-themed vessels and take to the parade route.

The parade begins at 6 p.m. from the Gulfport Lake Launch near the Bayou Vista Golf Course then cruises down Bayou Bernard under the Handsboro Bridge on Cowan Road and heads up the seaway back to the lake.

Homes along the parade route will also be decorated and homeowners will be judging the boats.

The public can also view the event. Melanie Clark with Christmas on the Bayou said, “The public viewing available is at the Gulfport Lake launch, it’s also going to be available at Kremer Landing, and it will be available at James Hill Park on Switzer Road. It’s bayou-front and there’s a lot of boardwalks there where people can stand on a lighted boardwalk and find it.”

If you are interested in registering for the parade, you can attend the captain meeting this Thursday December 8th from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m.
