Christmas Light Show Returns to Gulfport
Now that another Thanksgiving has come and gone, it’s finally time for Christmas. The City of Gulfport is kicking things off at Jones Park with their incredible Harbor Lights Winter Festival.
The holidays are here and that means as the sun goes down over the harbor this winter, you can expect a Christmas-themed light show featuring millions of dollars’ worth of state of the art LED light systems. Every last bulb is capable of displaying the entire color spectrum and will do so during the hour long show, which is all possible thanks to a partnership between the City of Gulfport and Island View Casino. City of Gulfport Director of Leisure Services David D’Aquilla said, “One of the things we wanted to do after the first year was definitely make some improvements to the show and do some things that would be new for our visitors this year. What we’ve done this year is Santa is now out here starting tonight and he’ll be out here every night. We’ve got a new Santa’s village that’s been created that I think is really gonna be impressive.”
Of course with Santa in the house, all the good boys and girls finally have a chance to make sure Santa knows what they want for Christmas.
With improvements to an already stellar light show and added attractions enjoyable for guests of all ages, the Harbor Lights Winter Festival should be at the top of your list this Christmas season. “Running through January the first, except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The gates open at 5:30. Show begins at 5:30. Gates close at 9:30, but we will run the show until 10:30. We’re just looking forward to having another opportunity for the folks on the Mississippi Gulf Coast to come out and enjoy the Christmas and holiday season,” said D’Aquilla.
