Child Burned, Two Adults Arrested

A four month investigation into how a child received third degree burns, after reportedly being found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub, has led to the arrest of two adults. Police say the child also nearly drowned.
Yesterday, police arrested 25-year-old Bich Tran of Biloxi and 29-year-old James Edward Black Jr. of Moss Point.
On July 1st, Biloxi police were called to a medical emergency in the 800 block of Bayview Avenue, in reference to a child. The investigation revealed the child had been forced in hot water for an extended period of time, causing third degree burns to the lower portion of the child’s body.
The child was later flown to the burn center in Birmingham and underwent multiple surgeries.
Black is charged with child abuse with bond set at $250,000. Tran is charged with child neglect with a $100,000 bond.
