Change of Command Ceremony at Naval Construction Battalion Center

The Runnin’ Roos over at the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport are getting a new commanding officer.

Commander Frank Carroll was relieved of his duties this morning, passing his role of leadership on to Commander Jacob Segalla.

The ceremony is a part of a naval tradition transferring total responsibility, authority, and accountability from one individual to another as well as recognizing the dedication the free men and women have to their country by choosing to serve.

The new commander is thrilled to be serving the Gulfport Seabees. He’s been stationed there twice before which makes assuming a leadership role easier. “I understand the organization, the mission set that will be given and just looking forward to getting the battalion ready to build and fight tonight if necessary.”

At the Seabee Base, each commanding officer will serve two years in the position.
