Celebration of Ship Island Restoration to be Held Wednesday

Wednesday here in South Mississippi, officials are set to gather to celebrate the long awaited restoration of Ship Island.

The National Park Service and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will come together today alongside representatives from the Department of the Interior, United States Army, state officials and members of Congress to celebrate the barrier island’s restoration.

There will also be a ceremonial groundbreaking on the barrier island finalizing the closure of the Camille Cut.
