Cause of Death Revealed in Jackson County Homicide

On March 23, 2016 the Mississippi State Crime Lab in Jackson, Mississippi conducted an autopsy on Donta Lashawn Banks. The cause of death was determined to be from a gunshot to the head. The complete results of the autopsy are pending.
The suspects, Hubert Patrick Anderson and Rita Olivia Johnston, are both being charged with capital murder for the March 22nd, 2016 death of Donta Lashawn Banks. A capital murder charge carries no bond so the suspects will be held in custody until the case is heard by a grand jury. If convicted of capital murder, both suspects could face death or life in prison.
Johnston is scheduled for an initial appearance on March 25, 2016 at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department Adult Detention Center. Anderson is currently being held in the Harrison County Jail on a charge of felony fleeing. Anderson will have an initial appearance after he is transferred to the Jackson County Adult Detention Center at a later date.
