Casinos prepare for Super Bowl

Game day is a sure bet for Coast casinos and their sportsbooks.

Every year, the Super Bowl is one of the most watched television events of the year. Less than a year into operating their sportsbook and seeing a rush of people already in the latter half of 2018, the Scarlet Pearl Casino in D’Iberville is putting their playbook to work as they prepare for their first Super Bowl as an operational sportsbook. Scarlet Pearl Sportsbook Director Nico Sfanos said, “It’s going to be a great weekend here. We’re going to have some great food and drink specials here at the lounge which is adjacent to our sportsbook. Of course, you stop in the sportsbook and wager on your favorite team or take a peek at one of our many hundreds of prop bets that we have available this weekend.”

With the Scarlet Pearl Sportsbook seeing success, other casinos across the Coast are upping the ante with their sportsbook facilities. The IP Casino Resort has opened their sportsbook, featuring 12 odds boards, eight 80 inch TVs, and a giant 3 by 3 TV. IP Casino Resort Spa VP and GM Duncan McKenzie said, “We’re very excited that we were able to get our permanent sportsbook open before the Super Bowl. We rushed to get in to it quickly. We opened on August 3rd in a temporary location. We had an excellent sports bar that supported it, but now we have a permanent sportsbook that you can come into and just enjoy a sportsbook experience.”

Regardless of which team wins on Sunday, it’s a sure win for the IP with the addition of an actual sportsbook and other Coast sportsbook facilities across the Coast.
