CASA Showdown

Breaking news: heroes and villains united against child abuse tonight at Coldwell Banker Alfonso in Gulfport.
A ten thousand dollar drawdown at the event supported CASA of Hancock County, Harrison and Jackson County. The event included food, live music, and even a silent auction.
CASA serves as the voice of the child in court and assists with decisions affecting their best interest.
One member of CASA in Harrison County tells News 25 the importance of this event. CASA of Harrison County Executive Director Jeannie Herrin said, “There is neglect and abuse going on every day and I can speak for Harrison County, but I’m sure Jackson County and Hancock County would say the same. Harrison County is the number one in the state for child neglect in CPS custody so when you say we need to protect our children, the most vulnerable are here in the state of Mississippi.”
The court appointed special advocates, CASA, advocates for neglected and abused children who many times cannot be heard or have their story told.
