CASA of Harrison County Needs Volunteers
The Court Appointed Special Advocates of Harrison County is in need of volunteers as they look for Coast adults to be the voice of young children in the county.
CASA volunteers go into the homes of children to see whether a child needs to be removed from the household or is ready to return home.
Volunteers receive 30 hours of training before they enter a home. If you’re over 21 and great at fostering relationships and love children, this could be an opportunity for you to give back to the community. CASA of Harrison County Executive Director Roy Kitchell said, “Our volunteering is different than a lot of other volunteer jobs in that it’s very hands on. You have your own case. You have your own children. You’re working directly with them. When improvement happens, you’re right there, you’re a part of it.”
Training classes are getting underway. If you’re interested in volunteering you should sign up as soon as possible. For more information on joining CASA, call 228-865-7078.
