CASA of Hancock County hosts sixth annual Light of Hope

For six years, CASA has put on the Light of Hope event in order to promote awareness of child abuse prevention.

This event in Hancock County featured the South Hancock Elementary Choir soothing the audience with songs like “We are the World” and “Don’t stop Believing.”

The journey of the program didn’t stop there as several Light of Hope awards were presented for outstanding community professionalism, CPS Case Worker of the Year, and CASA Advocate of the Year.

Last but not least, Hancock County Court Judge Trent Favre unveiled the Halls of Hope. “The goal was to bring in artwork so that when people come in the door they’re calm. They feel like they are at home. They feel like it’s a place of restoration. I think it’s important to understand that we are all about restoring their families and hope back to their lives.”

Currently there are 158 children in foster care in Hancock County, CASA plans to cater to every single one of their needs.
