Carlos Subero Named Biloxi Shuckers Manager
The trio will begin their second-consecutive season together after claiming the North Division title in the first half of the 2014 campaign and a 77-63 record with the Huntsville Stars.
Subero, 42, enters his 15th season as a manager. Prior to joining the Brewers’ organization in 2014, he spent the previous five seasons as a manager in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, including the 2013 season as manager at Class-A Rancho Cucamonga as he led the Quakes to the California League playoffs. Subero managed at Class-A Inland Empire in 2009 and Double-A Chattanooga from 2010-12.
Before joining the Dodgers organization, Subero served as manager at Double-A Birmingham in the White Sox organization in 2008 and also spent nine seasons in the Texas Rangers organization, including two seasons as hitting coach with the Gulf Coast League Rangers (1999-2000) and seven seasons as manager with the GCL Rangers (2001-02), Class-A Clinton (2003-05) and Class-A Bakersfield (2006-07).
Subero’s professional playing career last six seasons from 1991-95 and 1997 and included stints in the Kansas City Royals, Pittsburgh Pirates and Texas Rangers Minor League systems. In 1997, Subero played with the Meridian Brakesman of the Big South League.
Hook, 46, begins his fifth season as the Brewers’ Double-A pitching coach after an 11-year professional career that included a two-year Major League stint with the San Francisco Giants.
Guerrero, 48, begins his second season as a coach after serving two seasons as a hitting coordinator. He also served as a coach in Huntsville from 2003-08. Guerrero enjoyed a 13 year professional playing career that included parts of eight seasons in the Brewers organization.
Steve Patera will serve as the team’s Athletic Trainer, while Nate Dine will be the Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
The Shuckers will get their 2015 season underway April 9th when they visit the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
