Car seat safety check

Is your child safe in the car? That was the question asked today at the Children’s Learning Center in Biloxi.

They held a car seat safety check today put on by Safe Kids Gulf Coast. It was free to get your car checked at this event.

As a parent always wear your seat belt to set a good example. Children under 4’9” are required to be in some type of restraint system.

If your baby is within an inch of the top of the car seat they have out grown it. “There is a big misuse nationwide of kids not being in the right car seat, the right position, and the right direction. So, we are just here to educate the parents and help them make sure their kids are in the right car seat for their age, height, and weight.”

If you would like to learn how to be a certified car seat checker they are having a three day class in September. You can call the Biloxi Heath Department for information.
