Capital Murder Conviction in Death of George County Sheriff
A woman convicted in the July 2010 capital murder case of a George County sheriff has been sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.
Brandy Nicole Williams was convicted of capital murder today by a Lauderdale County jury. The state presented a total of 22 witnesses, arguing that Williams was driving the truck or was aiding and abetting co-defendant Christopher Baxter when it struck and killed the sheriff.
District Attorney Tony Lawrence stated: “Garry Welford dedicated his life to public service and he lost his life while serving and protecting the citizens of George County.”
