Candlelight vigil for missing mariner

The U.S. Coast Guard has announced that they’ve called off the search for the three missing mariners whose vessel sunk on Sunday near Louisiana.

Friends and family gathered for a candlelight vigil tonight at the Washington Street Pier in Bay St. Louis all to remember Shawn Pucheu.

A husband, father, and grandfather, Pucheu is one of three mariners still missing.

Pucheu’s nephew, Cody Summers, organized the vigil, hoping to show others just how great of a man Pucheu was. “He was such a great role model for me and I was very close to him. Me and brother were very close to him, we were like his sons. I just felt like I needed to do something to honor him and let people know he was such a great man.”

According to Summers, the U.S. Coast Guard doesn’t have plans to resume the search until Fall 2020.
