Candidates to Face Off in Aug. Primary for Jackson Co. Sheriff

Friday was the last day to qualify to run in any election on the 2015 ballot.

One race News 25 has followed closely is for Jackson County Sheriff. Mike Ezell won the special election in November of 2014 to fill the vacancy left by Mike Byrd, but Ezell will be up for the general election this November, and he’ll be facing Bob Cochran. Cochran ran in the special election last November as well, but says he was always most focused on the 2015 election to become Sheriff for the next four years.

Cochran says, “I’m going to campaign on the integrity, the character, the accountability, the responsibility and the ethics. I’m still going to run on my community service campaign. I’m still going to run on the things that I talked about in my last campaign last year.”

Ezell says, “We’re working hard. I tell you, the Sheriff’s Office is making some good cases. We’ve started our neighborhood watch program. We’re trying to get some things off the ground. Our personnel are working hard.”

Both are running as Republicans and will face off in the Republican primary on August 4th.
