Campaign Finance Reform Passes MS House

Mississippi House members are strongly backing a bill that would restrict how elected officials statewide spend campaign money.
House Bill 479, which passed by a large majority Wednesday afternoon, is aimed at prohibiting officials from spending campaign money for personal use or taking it home when they retire.
Instead they would be required to return the money to donors, donate it, or give it to the state.
The Mississippi Ethics Commission would be put in charge of enforcement.
The measure now moves to the Senate for more work.
