C-USA Tournament benefits ‘Champions for Charities’
While the Conference USA Baseball Tournament is in full swing, Overtime Sports put together ‘Champions for Charities’ that will help benefit local Coast charities.
The Biloxi NAACP and its baseball diversity committee are raising money for the Loaves and Fishes Community Kitchen. Both organizations will earn one dollar for every ticket sold for tonight’s game at 7:30 between Charlotte and Louisiana Tech.
Overtime Sports Owner Tim Bennett tells News 25 that 12 Coast charities have been selected for ‘Champions for Charities.’ “Biloxi has Salvation Army. Ocean Springs has Warriors for Willow. Pascagoula has United Way. Moss Point has Boys and Girls Club. All the communities benefit and all the charities benefit and that’s why we wanted to do something like that. Sometimes you have one charity that benefits and sometimes they get a little more attention than others and here’s a chance for everyone to benefit over a period of five days.”
Individual game tickets are $14.50. For each ticket sold one dollar is donated to the selected charity. So far, almost $4,000 has been raised.
