Burglary call turns into officer-involved shooting in Harrison County

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving Harrison County Sheriff’s Department.

According to MBI, deputies responded to a suspected burglary near Merlin Lane and Orange Grove Road in Gulfport about 10:15 p.m. Monday night.

Two suspects were arrested on scene and another was taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries. That suspect was treated and released. All three suspects are juveniles, according to MBI, and their names will not be released.

MBI is gathering evidence and after completing its investigation, agents will send their findings to the local District Attorney’s Office.

This is the fifth officer-involved shooting this year and the first on the Coast.
