Bulldogs avenge 2016 loss to BYU with 35-10 victory
Mississippi State’s fall from grace was a quick one after its record setting victory over LSU as the Bulldogs went on to lose two straight games to SEC opponents by a combined 67 points.
What ensued was a timely bye week leading up to Saturday’s BYU game which MSU won by the score of 35-10. Leading the charge was dual threat quarterback Nick Fitzgerald who accounted for two touchdowns through the air and two more on the ground.
Overall the dogs put up more than 300 yards rushing and a 500 plus total yards for the third time this season. Here’s Dan Mullen on what he says could have been a disastrous third quarter. “I mean that’s that rope just slipping right out of your hands, you know what I mean? You’re just getting it pulled right out of your hands at that point. One of the things we do in our off-season, one of the big things, every guy will tell you if you ask them about the rope, they’ll say don’t let go of that rope. They might add another adjective in there too between the and the rope, that they’ll throw in here that they occasionally hear from me to not let it go. And all of a sudden that rope was slipping, slipping but you just can’t let go of the rope. But they clasped, and they grasped it and they pulled it right back in all three phases.”
Next up for the Bulldogs is their homecoming against Kentucky at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
