‘The Bridge’ ribbon cutting

The Salvation Army unveiled a new space today for people to participate in community engagement.

‘The Bridge’ is located in the building that once housed Mary’s Drive In on Division Street, just across the street from the Kroc Center.

Central to the renovated building is a mural dedicated to Javonte Johnson, Travis Robertson, and Eric Smith, the three teens who drowned in the Biloxi River in 2019.

Salvation Army officials say the center will serve the Kroc Center Church and other local churches and community organizations by being a comfortable venue to host a range of events. Lieutenant Sonya Smith said, “We just wanted this place to be a place where community members that live here in Biloxi could come in and just feel at home and this is what came about.”

Specific events that will be held at ‘The Bridge’ include bingo, teen night, and movie nights.
