Brett Favre on concussions
Former NFL Quarterback Brett Favre shared his opinion today on concussions in sports.
When asked how many he had suffered, Favre said three or four that he knew of, but said that he likely suffered hundreds if not thousands during his career if a “ding” is considered a concussion.
Favre went on to say young kids should not be allowed to play tackle football. “We are not going to stop concussions. The brain and the skull itself for 8 through 15 year olds and maybe even older is not developed enough and they should not be playing tackle football. We should protect them especially when there is no treatment solution out there.”
Other star athletes such as Abby Wambach, David Ross, and Kurt Warner also spoke today about advances in concussion research.
