BREAKING: One pedestrian hit and killed by a car. Another pedestrian in critical condition after being hit by a car.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol investigated a crash in Harrison County that occurred on Highway 49, near the School Road, at approximately 1:10 a.m. which claimed the life of one woman. Upon arriving it appeared a 50 year old black male of Purvis was traveling north in a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville when it crashed into 66 year old white female of Vancleave that was walking in the right lane of Highway 49. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene from injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the 2002 Pontiac was not injured in the crash.

Officials with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department confirmed another pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a car near John Clarke Road and Cardinal Lane in Harrison County around 5 a.m. The victim was flown to USA Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama.
