Breakfast for Local Veterans

Memorial Day may have come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the Coast is done honoring the ones who fight for our country and made the ultimate sacrifice.
This morning, the O’Keefe family held their first Veteran’s Breakfast at McElroy’s in Ocean Springs. Dozens of veterans packed the restaurant for a free meal as they were honored for their service.
Jeff O’Keefe tells News 25 the main inspiration to have this breakfast was drawn from their own father’s service in the armed forces. His father, Jerry O’Keefe, was a Marine ace fighter pilot in World War II and received a Congressional Gold Medal just last September for his service.
O’Keefe tells News 25 they plan to make the breakfast an annual event.
